Shadle is a congregation: which is authentic, warm and down-to-earth, which seeks to live for Christ, which seeks to reach out in love, of small groups, where messages are biblical and practical, where people can question and disagree, where people laugh and have fun, which is not perfect.
Meet the Staff
Steve Lympus, Head Pastor
After my wife, Laura, Shadle is the greatest find of my life. I love this church! And I’m so grateful to be a pastor in this community of Jesus-followers.
At last count, we have four kids – all amazing, all in motion, all the time.
We care about: adoption, congregations, neighborhoods, refugees, and families with kids coming from hard places.
We love: good food, good books, good dance music, good shows, our minivan, and Jesus. (Not in that order.)
Some other cool things...
Laura works for Big Table: https://www.big-table.com/
Steve writes young adult fiction: https://wipfandstock.com/the-house-of-dunraven.html
Spokane finally has amazing tacos! http://cochinitotaqueria.com/
Hope to share table with you soon,
John Edmondson, Family Ministries Director
Johnny is our Family Ministries Director. He enjoys the variety of working with kids, youth, young adults, and parents and creatively helping families in our community connect with each other and with Jesus. He loves connecting with students and staff at schools and helping various local organizations to collaborate. He is also on staff with the North Spokane YMCA and he’d love for you to join him for a group exercise class sometime :)
Johnny continues to enjoy learning new things and trying new experiments such as Growing Neighbors (www.growingneighbors.org). He likes reading and meeting with friends to discuss what they’re learning while enjoying green smoothies and cinnamon rolls. He also enjoys embarking on spontaneous adventures, playing and coaching sports, and snuggling with his family.
Eileen Wilmot, Office Manager
Things I know: by Eileen Wilmot
God loves me, even though I haven’t earned it.
I don’t understand God always, but I believe He is trustworthy and faithful.
I’ve been the office manager for 23 years and part of this church for 37+ years and still love being here.
Small groups are our thing, it’s how we grow in our faith, with the bonus of developing deep friendships!
I am so grateful to God for this Shadle family.
Others serving SPPC
Tom Shook, Music Director
Eileen Hartzog, Treasurer
George Stephens, Custodian
Matt and Alyssa Bell, Yoked Co-Associate Pastors
Matthew and Alyssa Bell have ministered as bi-vocational pastors at Shadle since 2015. Matt also teaches at Whitworth University and holds a PhD in Theology.
Alyssa is working on her Doctor of Ministry degree as well. Their daughters, Theresa and Susie, are the joys of their life and as a family they love taking walks, eating good food and having adventures together.
Courtney Durant, Childcare Ministries Coordinator
I grew up in small town Davenport, went to Whitworth, got married, moved to the UK for a bit and am now settled back into Spokane and SPPC. I love the family that makes up Shadle and could not imagine being a part of a different church.
I am now the Childcare Ministries Coordinator as well as a volunteer on the youth team working with middle schoolers and I sing for worship. Reach out if you have questions about any of those three things!
These are a few of my favorite things: sewing, my puppy, musicals, watching TV/movies, fall, cookies, Harry Potter, sunshine, Disney, peanut butter, the outdoors, and milkshakes. You can also reach out if you have questions or comments about any of these things J
Our Presbyterian Heritage
What are Presbyterians? Mainly, we believe in the sovereignty of God, the authority of scripture, justification by grace through faith and the priesthood of all believers. So how are we different from other Christians? Basically, we're not. But we have a history of reformed theology and a way of governance that we have shared with other believers around the world since the early 1500s.
